On 2nd of july I had my final exam of my master study at Artez Conservatory Enschede. As highlight Quatre Femmes took part in my final concert as student and performed Eugene Bozza´s Andante et Scherzo – a piece which hold us busy for a long time already: During the last 2 years we had a lot of coachings specially for that piece so that we got many different views and ideas for interpretations, which made the work on it always “new” and interesting.
It was a big pleasure for me to perform with Quatre Femmes in my exam – it made me very proud to let the audience hear and see our ensemble – and also to let my family and close friends (who extra came to the Netherlands for that concert) see what I have done in my last 3 years at Artez. The people had a very good time with us and enjoyed our performance a lot. After the concert we made a little aftershow party: Our teacher and member of the examination jury Johan van der Linden joined us on solo soprano saxophone for Astor Piazolla´s Oblivion- a big surprise for everyone and another highlight of that day.
When the show was over it turned out that it just has started: My quartet colleagues suddenly stand with Austrian “Dirndls” in front of me and played a typical Austrian Folksong – arranged by Manon as Saxophone Trio. I had so much fun and the atmosphere of the party was great. We even danced to the music! It was really a big surprise and I was very happy about that present!
